oh i just used the normal hb because i was just messing around and trying to get my skill back

i used to do that but my palms sweat a lot so things got really messy for me. nowi use a cotton swab, and a 2b pencil

well shading can be really easy, i normally just put some pencil on the part i want shaded, and smudge it to make it smooth, but my hands get quite dirty seeing how i don't use one of those smudge sticks

To create a moving avatar you need a GIF animation program. If you do not have one they can be found for free, just do a search(google)! I like U lead.
Any of your pix or photos can be saved to .gif formatt. So all you have to do is pick a couple of pix and put them in consecutive order, shrink them to 50 by 50 pixels and you have animation!
You want to keep it short and simple to keep the file size low and graphics clear.
Of course you don't have to animate your Avatar but it expands your expression.
